Western was a horrific university experience. From dealing with the meat head football players starting fights every weekend in my dorm and seeing one of them smash a girls head through a wall, to all the rich stuck up students, to being accused of plagiarism and threatened to be failed by some egotistical professor who I did not plagiarize whatsoever, to being given low marks by a sexist teacher whose female students averaged %10 better year after year, to the rugby class teacher and kinesiology undergraduate director who threatened to hold me back and pay another $10,000 in tuition because I had to sit on the sidelines for 2 weeks but was still present after suffering my 4th concussion to date, or to the clown basketball teacher who gave me, a person who has reffed basketball for 10 years prior and knows infinitely more than this fool about basketball a 60% on his test because I couldn’t memorize the order his bullet points appeared on his power point. Good to know Western tests how well you can memorize random lists made by some clown, instead of testing our knowledge of the actual material. There is no accountability for the administration and staff at Western. It is an appalling school and I wouldn’t recommend anybody go there. Guelph would be a much friendlier and enjoyable option.
Western University is so special to me because I was able to obtain a high quality education and simultaneously enjoy the vibrant social life that London has to offer. I chose not to specialize in a specific area in my degree and this allowed me to take advantage of the wide range of different kinesiology courses that Western has to offer. However, a downfall to the program is that due to large lecture sizes you really have to make an effort to stand out if you want good academic references. This can definitely be a challenge if you are a more introverted student, such as myself.
