Unique and lovely experience. Hard work but so versatile it will keep you going, thinking and loving it every moment. Almost every, but those few you will forget quickly. It broadens your horizons and shows you the world. The Rome program AMAZING. The coop opportunities whatever you like. I found 2 coops on my own in Europe and loved each one.
Great experience. Even if you don't do amazing things, you'll still learn about your career and employment in general. Very valuable. Plus you network and make money.
The Waterloo Architecture program is widely known as the best architecture education in Canada. The program is known across North America by industry professionals, and offers an excellent alumni network and excellent job security post-graduation. The co-op program molds undergraduate students into top job candidates as well as highly qualified applicants for graduate programs across North America, including Ivy-League schools in the United States. It is a small tight-knit class of highly talented and hard-working individuals, and the professors are top quality. I would recommend this program to anyone looking to begin a career in architecture, design, urban planning, and/or real-estate/development.
The Waterloo Architecture co-op program was immensely helpful in finding work post-graduation; students graduate with a cumulative total of ~2 years of work experience and benefit from the solid and dependable reputation of the Waterloo program. The co-op program also offers students the opportunity to live and work abroad. Jobs outside of North America were often found by students themselves and not through the Waterloo co-op program.
Waterloo Architecture has profoundly impacted my personal and professional life. The core experience comes from your small class of talented, ambitious, and hard-working peers who constantly push you to up your game. If you're interested in exploring the built environment for an undergraduate degree, there is no better institution in Canada than Waterloo.
Co-op was a critical component of the Waterloo education. Every 4 months our class would reconvene with new skills and experiences from all over the world. Coming back from co-op was an exciting time as everyone would all share the new knowledge they'd just acquired. This feedback loop allowed for huge leaps in the quality of work we produced as a cohort every semester.
