The program and courses changed during my time there, so they do try to keep their material up-to-date. Your general experience might also depend on your instructors, so try to get into the ones that people like.
Your experience with it will heavily depend on your placement, try your best to get a good one.
This program is really good. Personally, I realized that I don't find programming to be my passion, but for anyone else that has programming as their passion, this program is amazing. Especially the Computer Programming and Analysis. It's a good opportunity for those who want to take co-op and find work after finishing their program. Most professors are really nice and helpful. Furthermore, they actually seem to enjoy what they're teaching... Most professors... I've been able to get assistance from most of my professors. They reply back to emails very easily and care about their students a lot. If you manage your time properly, this program can be less difficult. One thing I would recommend those who are going to this program is that they should attend any courses that provide extra assistance for your program. For example, first semester students have the opportunity to go to an optional course that reviews the material from the week prior. I didn't realize how helpful this was until later. These are very helpful and will assist you in getting good grades and understanding the material more. The only problem I had with this course is that not a lot of people were willing to speak with one another. Many times I found myself reaching out to other people or trying to start conversations with others so I could talk to them. In this course, making friends and helping each other is VERY useful. It also allows students to make connections. I was able to make amazing friends in my first two semesters. After that, COVID hit so it was a but harder. But nevertheless, I was grateful for the people I met, and I recommend everyone to step out of their comfort zone and talk to a few people per class.
be sure to research the profs for the ipc/oop courses, they really set the base of your experience
I started the program in Fall 2020 (right in the middle of covid) so I haven't gotten to go on campus yet. My experience with professors haven't been the best, I don't know if this is because everyone was adjusting to school at home online or they are usually like this but I got some professors who were so lazy and unprofessional. When it comes to the courses, I enjoyed most courses we are required to take. The OOP and WEB courses were really fun and hands on, but it's important to get the good profs for those courses (like Hong) or else it may be more frustrating.
Getting into the co-op stream is the easy part, finding a co-op job is the harder part. I would say don't only use Seneca's job board, look for jobs on your own outside from what the school gives you, it will give you a much better chance at finding a job. Also, to stay in the co-op stream you need to take minimum of 4 courses and keep a minimum gpa of 3.0.
